Energy-Assistance, Educational and Environmental Programs Funded in South Florida

February 17, 2005

HIALEAH, Fla. — Feb. 17, 2005 — Florida City Gas, a natural gas company serving 101,000 customers in South Florida, today announced a contribution of $45,000 to one of Miami’s most-respected philanthropic organizations, the Dade Community Foundation.

“Community support is a cornerstone of the corporate philosophy of AGL Resources, the new parent company of Florida City Gas,” said Charles Rawson, vice president and general manger, Florida City Gas. “Now that Florida City Gas is part of the AGL Resources family, we wanted to demonstrate our support and commitment to South Florida by making this contribution.”

AGL Resources, which acquired Florida City Gas on Nov. 30, focuses its charitable efforts on three areas: community enrichment, education and environmental stewardship. The $45,000 contribution will be used to establish the Florida City Gas Fund administered by the Dade Community Foundation and focusing on these three areas.

“Our commitment to the South Florida community will be enhanced by this charitable fund as it supports families and children in need,” said Rawson. “We selected the Dade Community Foundation because it has built an endowment that supports the work of non-profit organizations trying to meet the needs of Miami-Dade County.”

The Dade Community Foundation is a grant-making foundation with more than $100 million in assets that are used to respond to current and emerging community needs and opportunities.

“Establishing this fund demonstrates that Florida City Gas wants to be a good corporate neighbor, and we are glad to welcome them to our neighborhood,” said Ruth Shack, president of the Dade Community Foundation. “South Florida faces many challenges, and we appreciate Florida City Gas’ effort to make Dade County a better place to live and work.”

Florida City Gas began serving customers as City Gas in 1946 in Dade County and expanded into Brevard County during the development of the space program in the 1960s. In 1988, City Gas became a part of NUI Corp. and extended its natural gas distribution system into Saint Lucie, Indian River, Martin and Palm Beach counties. In November 2004, the company became a subsidiary of AGL Resources and changed its name to Florida City Gas.
