Florida City Gas employees support Earth Day at Trash Bash 08April 17, 2008
Brevard County, Fl. – Florida City Gas employees are once again participating in the annual Trash Bash 08 beach clean-up, sponsored by Keep Brevard Beautiful, a non-profit corporation dedicated to reducing litter and beautifying the environment. Florida City Gas volunteers will be picking up trash at Lori Wilson Park in Cocoa Beach on Saturday, April 19th, in support of Earth Day.
A grassroots effort to save the environment almost 40 years ago, Earth Day has blossomed into a world-wide endeavor. Earth Day activities in Florida range from recycling and unplugging appliances to car-pooling and educational exhibits. All are ways to reduce our effect on the environment, a top priority for Florida City Gas.
“As a natural gas company, we are committed to reducing our carbon footprint, and those of our customers,” said Jay Sutton, vice president, Florida City Gas. “Our employees who participate in Earth Day initiatives reinforce that goal.”
The efficiency and environmental friendliness of natural gas means that homes using it for heating, hot water and other appliances produce about 40 percent less carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions than homes using electric appliances for these services.
Natural gas is the cleanest burning and most efficient fossil fuel, to help us bridge to America’s energy future.
