Your Safety is Our Top Priority
Your safety is important to us, especially during severe weather like hurricanes. While your natural gas appliances may not experience interruptions during storms, other emergencies may occur like gas leaks or pipe damage.
If a natural gas meter is damaged or gas line is exposed following severe weather or a hurricane, immediately leave the area and call our 24-hour emergency response number at 888.352.5325.
Detecting Gas Leaks
If after a storm you smell the “rotten egg” odor associated with natural gas, there could be a gas leak. Leave the area immediately and avoid using any equipment that may cause a spark.

Damage Prevention
Strong winds and saturated grounds could cause trees to become uprooted. Before removing downed trees, customers should call 811, a statewide, toll-free number, to have underground utility lines marked, because downed trees could become tangled with the natural gas lines.

Natural Gas Generators
During a power outage, natural gas generators provide continuous fuel supply from an existing natural gas line to all your natural gas appliances. Keep meals warm and hot water flowing with rebates on natural gas appliances, including hot water heaters and ranges.

Meter Safety
Following a weather emergency, ensure your gas meter is visible and free of trash and debris. Any equipment used after a storm to clean up a location may damage an unseen meter.
